Christmas Tree Decorating Contest

Gilroy Gardens is looking for Local Businesses and Nonprofit Organizations to participate in our Christmas Tree Decorating Contest!

We challenge you to create festive and original Christmas Tree Display. The trees will be on display from December 1, 2017 – January 7, 2018. Chosen participants will receive one (1) spot for their display and 25 complimentary tickets for Gilroy Gardens Holiday@Night (valid December 1 - December 31, 2017) and the top 3 displays will also win prizes for their group!  

There are a limited number of live 8 to 11 foot trees provided by Gilroy Gardens, but we may also offer additional limited spots for groups willing to bring their own trees.  We are collecting registration forms online now, and will contact you soon if you are chosen to participate.

Prizes:

  • 1st Place: 40 Daytime Admission Tickets for 2018 Season and 6 2018 Premium Memberships
  • 2nd Place: 30 Daytime Admission Tickets for 2018 Season and 4 2018 Premium Memberships
  • 3rd Place: 20 Daytime Admission Tickets for 2018 Season and 2 2018 Premium Memberships

Each tree will be judged on the following criteria:

  1. Meeting contest guidlines.
  2. Originality & creativity.
  3. Overall display creation.

Guidlines for Tree Decorating Contest:

  1. Each group/organization may set up one (1) tree.
  2. Get creative! Come up with a theme for your tree and have fun with it!
  3. Displays must be durable and of a quality that will last for the duration of the event.
  4. Use your own original creative ideas. Feel free to incorporate contact information for your business or nonprofit group.
  5. Every tree must have lights, and no more than 3 strands of 100 twinkle lights can be used.
  6. Each tree must have a topper on their tree. (i.e. Star, Angel etc)
  7. Each group must decorate the area under their tree.
  8. Please bring your own materials to secure and set up your display. You will need to bring a ladder.
  9. Please make sure to clean up your space by 6pm.
  10. Complimentary tickets will only be distributed for groups with displays that meet the above criteria.
  11. Gilroy Gardens is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.

Set-Up Dates and Times:

  • Tuesday, November 28, 2017 and Wednesday, November 29th, 2017 from 4:00pm-6:00pm.  All displays must be completed during this timeframe.
  • Park in the main parking lot (Parking Lot A) of Gilroy Gardens, enter through the main gate turnstiles and check in with a Park Representative who will assist you with your pre-assigned location.

Removal Dates and Times:

  • Tuesday, January 2 and Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 4:00pm-6:00pm
  • Park in the main parking lot (Parking Lot A) of Gilroy Gardens, enter through the main gate turnstiles and check in with a Park Representative who will assist you. You must attend one of these removal dates to be eligible to receive any prizes. Any displays that are NOT picked up by 6:00pm on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 will be discarded.

Additional Information:

  1. Each organization is responsible for checking on their tree throughout the duration of the event, during normal park operating hours, to ensure that it looks fresh and in good condition. Please use the complimentary tickets to check on your tree.
  2. Gilroy Gardens reserves the right to remove any tree display that has been damaged by weather or has not been repaired by the organization.
  3. Gilroy Gardens reserves the right to remove any display we feel is inappropriate for families with young children.
  4. Complimentary tickets will only be distributed for groups with displays that meet the guidelines.
  5. Gilroy Gardens is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.
