AT BONFANTE GARDENS FAMILY THEME PARK

Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park, a non-profit organization, offers a variety of special events and entertainment that families can enjoy together during our 2006 season that ends November 19, as well as return of Holiday Lights. Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park educates and inspires families to appreciate horticulture and the importance of trees in our lives. All events are FREE with park admission unless otherwise noted.

Bonfante Gardens Open Daily (Through August 27) - The horticultural theme park is open daily for summer fun and excitement.  Enjoy six majestic gardens, three new educational exhibits and a summertime favorite – Bonfante’s Splash Garden™. Bonfante Gardens Celebrates Five Years in Gilroy (June 12 – 25) - Bonfante Gardens, California's only horticultural theme park, opened to the public June 2001. As a thank you to Gilroy residents for their continued support, the non-profit theme park is offering a special anniversary discount June 12 - 25, 2006. Guests who present a valid ID listing a Gilroy address may purchase a discount admission ticket for just $21.99 (regular price $38.99) for all ages for up to six (6) people in their immediate party! Plus, as a thank you to all of our guests, the first 1,000 people through the gates June 17 - 18 and June 24 -25 will receive a FREE novelty character plush. Bonfante Gardens is open daily from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Monday - Friday) and 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. (Weekends). For more information, visit www.bonfantegardens.org.

Rod & Classic Car Show (July 1) - The annual Rod & Classic Car Show in Bonfante Gardens’ tree-laden South County Picnic Grove includes hundreds of unique and beautifully restored vehicles, a chance to talk with car owners, live music and more! A Heroes Welcome (July 1-4) - Bonfante Gardens salutes our nation’s military, fire, police and other emergency services personnel with FREE admission. Members of the military, police, fire and other emergency services may present valid ID at Will Call or Guest Services and receive free admission and 50% off admission for up to six (6) family members!  Visit www.bonfantegardens.org for more information and a complete operating calendar. 

4th of July Celebration BBQ (July 2) - Celebrate Independence Weekend at Bonfante Gardens during the annual all-you-can-eat BBQ in the beautiful Garden Pavilion in South County Picnic Grove. The BBQ takes place from 12:30 p.m.–1:30 p.m. and includes BBQ chicken, hot dogs, potato salad, plus other holiday favorites. Tickets for the BBQ can be purchased at Guest Services at the park’s front gate. Premium Pass holders should ask about receiving discounted meal tickets. Reek Run (July 8) - Run for the arts as Bonfante Gardens teams up with the Theater Angels Art League for the annual 5K/10K Reek Run/Walk at Bonfante Gardens benefiting the Theater Angels Art League. All participants will receive admission to Bonfante Gardens, a light breakfast and free parking on event day. The Sun Kings Benefit Concert (July 8) - Bonfante Gardens and the Gilroy Rotary team up for an evening concert benefiting the Bonfante Gardens Educational Foundation, established to create and fund educational events including Junior Horticulture Day and park education displays. The event kicks off with local comic Dave McRae at 7:40 p.m. followed by the uncanny channeling of the Beatles' music through the musical talent of The Sun Kings. Beer, wine and food will be available to purchase. Tickets are $25.00 and include admission to the park after 7 p.m., parking, comedy show and concert. Bonfante Gardens Camp Nights
Boy Scout Dates: (July 15, August 4, and September 16)
Girl Scout Dates: (October 7 & 13)
Experience camping in a safe environment that combines the beauty of magnificent gardens with the appeal and excitement of a traditional family theme park. The event includes overnight camping facilities, admission to Bonfante Gardens, special camp night patch, a docent talk, educational activities and a Camp Night Showcase! Hammerhead Kids Triathlon (July 16) - New in 2006! Bonfante Gardens is proud to team up with Body and Mind Solutions to host the Garlic Triathlon where participants have an opportunity to swim in Coyote Lake and bike and run inside Bonfante Gardens. This triathlon is perfect for kids, adults and sprint racers. All participants will receive admission to Bonfante Gardens, a custom finisher medal, swim cap, t-shirt and goody bag with sponsor products. Awards will be given for the top three finishers. Pony Up! Petting Zoo Attraction (August 12 – 13) - For this weekend only, Bonfante Gardens hosts Pony Up!  Petting Zoo in the park’s Events Plaza.  Guests can see goats, pot-bellied pigs, rabbits, ducks and more plus have an opportunity to feed the animals.  Expert zoo handlers will be onsite to answer questions regarding these special animals. Garden Days (September 22 & 29) - Visit Bonfante Gardens without the hustle and bustle of theme park rides. This two-day event runs from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Stroll the gardens or listen to volunteer docents as they provide park tours and talk about the gardens and educational exhibits. No rides will be in operation. Tickets are available at the gate for a discounted price of just $15 per person and must be used on date of purchase. Home, Garden & Gourmet Show (October 7 & 8) - The Home, Garden & Gourmet Show returns to Bonfante Gardens October 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Park guests can get tips on home decorating and gardening, attend informative gardening workshops throughout the day and shop for gardening and repair supplies and interior-decorating products.  For more information please call 408-682-4700 or visit www.svshows.com.  

Scarecrow Alley (Weekends only, October 14-29 & November 4-12) - Bonfante Gardens partners with local community businesses and organizations to create Scarecrow Alley. Guests will be greeted by over thirty one-of-a-kind scarecrows designed, created and maintained by local community organizations. For more information visit www.bonfantegardens.org.

2nd Annual Bonfante Harvest Ride (October 21) - The Bonfante Harvest Ride is a cycling event designed for the entire family. While serious cyclists can participate in the 25, 50 or 100-mile ride through some of the most beautiful vineyards and farms in South County, families can participate in smaller rides including a 10-mile ride or a kid’s ride through the theme park. 3rd Annual USA Cheerleading Competition (October 22) - Sponsored by the United Spirit Association, this cheerleading competition erupts in the Bonfante Gardens Events Plaza when youth Pop Warner, junior high and all-star cheerleading squads compete. TREE-ker Treat! (October 28-29) - Children 12 years of age and under are encouraged to dress up and TREE-ker Treat their way through the park! Visit all nine of our world-famous Circus Trees to receive special holiday treats. Holiday Lights 2006 – November 24 to December 23 (18 Select Dates) - Bonfante Gardens Holiday Lights™, a special engagement, returns for an expanded third season with thousands of twinkling lights, a decadent holiday feast, ice skating, holiday shopping, Santa’s Workshop, themed rides and more!  More information about this holiday event in the gardens available later this season at www.bonfantegardens.org.
